^letters for our boy...

i've been sketching & working on this for a little while. i really dove in & did a bunch of research & thinking on what happens to two lines when they meet? upon my thoughts i didn't want to have any boxed corners. i really wanted the letters to have fun curves & swoops. as friends we value what SI's artwork is & wanted these letters to directly reflect just that: its very technical & classic yet its done in a contemporary way & time.

grafting:

apple tree grafting is a way to change a large tree from an old to a new variety. it is an ancient chinese method of using a root system better adapted to soil or climate than that produced naturally by an ungrafted plant. grafting is the act of joining two plants together by slicing & tying the plants together. the upper part of the graft (the scion) becomes the top of the plant, the lower portion (the understock) becomes the root system or part of the trunk.
